Position Summary:
Responsible for leading a transformational business program and cultivating the new capabilities that will be delivered as AstraZeneca continues to move from a core volume based model and platform to 50/50 balance with an ‘Every Patient Matters model and platform’.
• Lead through a new level of complexity, opportunity, capability and responsibility for AstraZeneca
• Deliver customer success and provide a positive impact in the lives of patients.

Balance short and longer-term priorities:
• Short-term priority: Develop the “Every Patient Matters” model and platform specific for Oncology with an eye towards ensuring the adaptability over time to include the broader business needs from an evolving Specialty Care business.
• Longer—term and after the oncology platform is implemented, leader’s role will encompass broader enterprise wide oversight of AZ’s entire Commercial Data and Strategy solutions.

The leader will partner, collaborate, communicate and influence across multiple cross-functional leaders/functions (Sales, Insights, Brand, SFO, MAPS, Channel, Medical, RWE, IT among others) while also prioritizing the capabilities and their delivery.
• Capability Build Requires a strategic architect that will take the existing data, big data inquiries and process flows (existing and future) and wire it to inform and predict business outcomes as well as test and define business strategy.
• Success will be based on synthesizing the current and forward looking business strategy with the implementation, integration and optimization of a strategic new data platform and the business enabling capabilities that assertively positions AZ to win.
• The goal of the role is to increase both the insights and operational capabilities across the business with specific emphasis on our Specialty Care Business, Oncology Launches, upcoming IO expansion and other new products entering/establishing complex markets.
• It will be imperative that this person brings the proven enterprise business experience and a track record of business impact in order to strategically identify opportunities to differentiate AZ to win in markets aligned to both brand/TA strategy and market dynamics.
Responsible for managing the multiple internal and external work streams (and leaders of the work streams/sub-teams) with Commercial Operations, AZ IT and Vendor platforms in a seamless manner.
• This will include creating the necessary internal bridge linkages to (and effectively socialize the value) to ensure that all platforms and systems can efficiently and effectively communicate to ensure all available data and processes (existing/new) are integrated appropriately.
• Other key capabilities including CRM (Veeva), Matrix (Field Reporting), Health Care Master (HCM), Diagnostics, Digital etc will need to integrate as they provide key upstream and downstream functionality that will help AZ to capitalize on the value of the data platform.

The platform will focus on the innovative tools, capabilities and key data that links to the business strategy and tactics that are necessary to answer critical current, retrospective and forward looking business questions.
• The leader will leverage the platform to develop structures and processes to efficiently and effectively deliver key insights on our markets, patients, distributions and customers.
• This role will also be responsible for continuous improvement of the platform as well as creating and leading the longer term objectives to ensure that this becomes and remains an area of expertise and differentiation for AZ.

• Bachelors degree in relevant field, MBA preferred

• Minimum 5-10+ years pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience – Oncology experience preferred
• STRONG project management experience
• Experience implementing technology platforms with multiple data sources
• Experience to thoroughly asses data various data sources to identify strengths, weaknesses, and gaps
• Experience to interface with both application/database developers and sales/marketing to ensure business needs are translated into easy to use and meaningful applications (to this extent anyone with a business analyst background would also be a good candidate)
• Data source knowledge: IMS, Symphony, FlatIron, or other claims or EMR based data, SD / SP , Diagnostics and/or Lab data
• Experience in sales field based reporting, Dashboard’s, HQ based reporting & Scorecards
• Experience defining Metrics, Measures & ROI calculations
• 3-5 years of primary market research preferred
• Analytical experience applying various primary research techniques and secondary analysis to inform business decisions preferred
• Demonstrated ability to influence laterally and vertically
• Pharmaceutical or consumer Insight experience highly desirable

Skills and Competencies:
• Demonstrated success in applying various primary research techniques to inform strategy in the pharmaceutical industry
• Demonstrated ability to pull together insights from a variety of sources and develop strategic guidance for brand teams that result in a business decision or action
• Demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels
• Experience with common statistical analysis and techniques
• Strong business and marketing acumen and excellent communication and interpersonal skills; consultative background preferred
• Ability to think strategically about integrating Big Data into commercial execution in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Ability to coordinate the appropriate analytical expertise necessary to address a variety of different business issues
• Ability to navigate through a lot of information and to identify what’s most important and most actionable

• Ability to manage and lead numerous projects at the same time

• Strong analytical skills with intimate knowledge of variety of secondary data sources (e.g., IMS, WK, IPSOS); direct data management and analysis experience preferred
