The objectives of the role are to provide Senior Management with robust forecasts and a deep understanding of the markets and competitive landscape where we compete in order to capitalize on opportunities and minimize risks in pursuit of the organizations business objectives. This individual will support a systematic, standardized forecasting approach to create short and long term, market-based and event driven revenue forecast models for commercial products, pipeline candidates and new business opportunities.

This position will play an integral role in preparing the company for the launch of a product in MS. This position will report to the Director, Forecasting and Performance Metrics, part of the Business Excellence department. This individual will act as a partner who contributes to business performance with joint accountability with other functions for value maximization via forecasting.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities
Forecasting (primary role - 75%):
  • Lead/support revenue forecasting for US = assets – this includes the largest commercially marketed product and a newly launching product, as wells as internal pipeline candidates and new business opportunities. This includes forecasts for the annual strategic planning and portfolio review processes.
  • Lead the development of comprehensible, transparent forecasting models that meet the business needs, based on statistical models of historic time-series, patient models, and causal methods.
  • Ensure the robustness and credibility of forecasts by:
    • Appropriately utilizing relevant and robust secondary data inputs

    • Ensuring understanding of primary market research to influence research design and to appropriately utilize research output

    • Developing criteria to evaluate various data inputs (syndicated demand, trade, etc.) to improve predictive value of forecasts

    • Leverage Competitive Intelligence information with Medical and Commercial teams for use in forecasting
  • For commercial and launch products, lead collaboration with cross-functional teams and global forecasting group to review forecast assumptions; maintain consistency and transparency of assumptions by implementing discipline with stakeholders, examining and challenging the robustness of all assumptions
  • Provide guidance in the interpretation of revenue forecasts, identify potential risks and opportunities for senior management, Global and other functional groups
  • · Present forecasts and analysis to US Senior Management
  • Implement current industry best practices for forecasting and quantitative business analysis and data visualization

Business Analysis (secondary – 25%):
  • Provide clear, thorough and consistent analysis regarding market trends, product performance, market opportunities, and potential risks
  • Lead discussions with the Neurology commercial team, Business Excellence, Managed Markets, Finance, Supply Chain, & other functional areas to gather key inputs for forecasting and analysis
  • · Lead coordinated response to ad hoc requests from Business Excellence, Brand Team, Finance, MACS, Global, and other departments on an on-going basis
  • · Partner and collaborate closely with the Manager, Performance Metrics and Business Analysis to ensure that key performance metrics are aligned with strategy and forecasts
  • Contribute to the evaluation, analysis, integration, correlation and communication of available data sources such as secondary market audits, primary market research, competitive intelligence, sales data, financial data, supply chain data, managed markets data.

Who you are:
  • BS/BA required, MBA preferred
  • Fluency in English is required
  • 5-7 years in forecasting with MBA, or 7-9 years’ experience with BS/BA
  • Biotech/pharmaceutical or high-tech industry experience highly preferred
  • Previous experience in consulting, finance and/or commercial assessments for pharmaceutical/biotechnology area preferred
  • Experience in analytical roles, with secondary data sources and modeling, including proficiency in designing and developing refined financial models to address alternate scenarios
  • Thorough understanding of various time-series and patient based forecasting techniques
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills (written & verbal)
  • Ability to influence others in a tactful and well thought out manner with supporting information and logic and through building and defending arguments, as well as listening and understanding a variety of perspectives, to reach a consensus
  • Lead in a team environment and cross functionally
  • Broad business understanding and ability to apply principles of logic and lead critical thinking to a wide range of complex business issues
  • Ability to work under pressure, with tight deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to balance several on-going projects simultaneously
